History of Treloyhan Manor

Treloyhan was built by local shipping magnate, Edward Hain, as his private family home and was designed by Silvanus Trevail, who was perhaps one of the most famous Cornish architects of the 19th century.

Edward Hain was descended from a long line of shipowners from Cornwall and produced eighty-seven ships, all with the prefix ‘Tre’, including Treloyhan.

Edward went on to become President of the Chamber of Shipping of the United Kingdom and proprietor of The Cornish Telegraph, but it doesn’t end there... Edward was later made a Justice of the Peace and was unanimously elected as Mayor of St Ives, a position which he held for 6 years.

Treloyhan truly is a symbol of Cornish history, which is echoed by its unrivalled elevated location, boasting magnificent views across St Ives Bay and surrounded by an exquisite estate featuring subtropical gardens.

Although Treloyhan is out of the ownership of Carbis Bay Estate, the property is marketed and managed by the Estate on behalf of its owners. All guests have full use of the Estate's facilities which includes the C Bay Spa.
