15 Years of Blue Flags for Carbis Bay Beach

We are thrilled to announce that Carbis Bay Beach has retained its Blue Flag status for the 15th year running, together with the Seaside Award.

In these uncertain times, it is good to have some certainty and anyone visiting Carbis Bay this summer can be sure that they are visiting one of the country’s – and the world’s – best beaches. Internationally recognised, the Blue Flag acts as a guarantee to visitors that a beach or marina is one of the best in the world.

Carbis Bay Estate owns the 25 acres of beach at Carbis Bay, which overlooks the bay and offers guests direct access to the golden sands.

These awards demonstrate the consistent excellent quality of bathing waters and the Estate's commitment to sustainability of our local environment and duty of care to the Blue Flag beach itself, its surroundings and marine life, over many years. The estate encourages local beach cleans, marine-learning activities and ocean-going activities whilst not permitting motor sports off the beach. Carbis Bay is one the country’s very best beaches, with breathtaking views across to Godrevy Lighthouse and the twinkling lights of St Ives just visible around the cove. The water and sands are clean, safe and meet the highest environmental standards, as well as the tough international bathing water quality standards.

Stephen Baker, owner of the Carbis Bay Hotel, Spa and Estate said:

“It is a delight to be awarded the Blue Flag status for the 15th year running. This and the Seaside Award are given to Beach Operators who make a special effort to manage their coastal water environment and beaches, so retaining the status assures all of our guests and visitors of the very highest standards of care.”

Administered in Britain by Keep Britain Tidy, the coveted scheme is awarded to Beach Operators that fulfil a number of strict criteria covering environmental information and education, environmental management, water quality, safety and services.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said, “As we all plan our 2021 holidays much closer to home, thanks to the Blue Flag and Seaside Award those choosing to holiday at a destination with an award-winning beach can be assured it will be clean and safe and meet the highest standards for water quality and management.”
